Effortlessly shapeshifting across every release, Caroline Rose (she/they) has built a career defined by reinvention, razor-sharp wit, and a fiercely independent presence. Blending psychobilly, pop, shoegaze, alt-country, folk, electronic, and rock music, Rose moves fluidly between sonic worlds while maintaining a singular artistic voice.

Their work is as much narrative as it is musical - infused with satire, film-inspired world-building, perspective shifts, and emotionally precise storytelling that pulls listeners directly into what Rose describes as their “weird buffet” of a mind.

Each album inhabits its own fully realized universe. From the alt-country introspection of I Will Not Be Afraid, to the psychobilly bite of LONER, to the sleek, self-produced synth-pop ambition of Superstar, Rose has repeatedly constructed and embodied distinct characters and aesthetics. That evolution culminated in 2023’s The Art of Forgetting, a moody and unguarded meditation on memory, healing, and self-reckoning. The album earned a Grammy nomination (Best Recording Package), with art direction by Caroline.

In February 2025, Rose quietly released year of the slug, an unpolished collection recorded entirely on an Iphone in GarageBand and shared exclusively on Bandcamp. With no heavy production and no streaming rollout, the project embraced immediacy and intimacy and resonated deeply with her fans.

To accompany 2023’s acclaimed album, The Art of forgetting, Caroline created a series of music videos that piece together as a short film. Via a series of time-warped loops, each chapter weaves together a story of Caroline navigating through a transformative heartbreak.

A loose recreation of some events in their life, the film accomplishes a fever-dream, Old Hollywood-esque feel through continuous shots and discontinuous narrative.

The film won Best Music Video at Hollywood Shortsfest, was a semi-finalist at Cannes Indie Shorts Awards and Venezia Shorts Italy, and was selected for HollyShorts Film Festival and several others worldwide.

"Complete with a stunningly cinematic video that plays out backwards, ‘Miami' is a Moment. Call it what it is.” - MTV

"Caroline Rose is perhaps best-known for the satire present in both their music and persona, but their wit does not absolve them from sincerity. The artist’s latest album, The Art of Forgetting, is a confessional, layered with personal anecdotes, Southern storytelling sensibilities, and unreserved exploration of the ever-evolving self.” - Document Journal

"Although Rose has created fictionalized characters before, here they delve deep into their vulnerabilities and pain in The Art of Forgetting: a memoir of healing. ...Rose has reached new heights on this record, executing her ideas flawlessly.” - Paste

Caroline has led a series of cinematic, concept-driven music videos in which she plays fully realized characters through which she balances physical comedy, emotional nuance, and dramatic tension. Her work in long-form visual projects demonstrates natural screen presence, improvisational instinct, and emotional authenticity.

A commanding live performer, Rose brings their work to stages across North America, Europe, and the UK in multiple forms: intimate solo performances in independent venues, high-concept full-band productions, and orchestral collaborations with ensembles including the London Contemporary Orchestra and Metropolis Ensemble. Whether stripped back or cinematic in scale, their performances are immersive, emotionally direct, and visually compelling.
